Abstract

Mung bean (Vigna radiata) is one of the plant sources of vegetable protein. The protein content of green beans is 22%, which ranks third after soybeans and peanuts. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in corncob biochar planting media on the growth and yield of green bean (Vigna radiata). This type of research is an experiment. The approach used in this study is quantitative using a completely randomized design (CRD). There were 6 treatments of planting media variations, namely P0, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6, each treatment with 4 repetitions and 3 green bean seeds were planted in each repetition. The parameters observed in the growth of green bean plants were plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, root length, plant fresh weight, and plant dry weight. The parameters observed in the yield of green bean plants were the number of flowers, the number of pods, the number of seeds and the weight of the seeds. Analysis of the data used is the analysis of variance test of variance (Anova). The results of the study stated that the use of variations in corn cob biochar planting media had an effect on the growth of green bean plants. The dominant treatment had the highest value, namely treatment P1 by giving a variation of 10% corn cob biochar planting medium. The use of variations of corn cob biochar planting media did not affect the yield of green bean plants.
