Abstract

Gastropods are a group of soft-bodied animals that move using abdominal muscles, and have an important role in the rice field ecosystem. Some species provide benefits, such as a source of protein and industrial raw materials, while others can act as plant pests. This study aims to identify the diversity of Gastropods in the watershed area of the rice fields of Padenganploso Village, Pucuk District, Lamongan Regency. The results showed that there were 108 individuals consisting of 4 species of gastropods from 3 different families, namely Filopaludina javanica, Pomacea canaliculata, Pomacea paludosa, and Achatina fulica. The Filopaludina javanica species had the highest importance index, relative density, and relative frequency values. The diversity of Gastropods at the study site was relatively low, influenced by environmental factors such as weather conditions and the type of mud substrate that was suitable as a habitat. However, the analysis showed that the distribution of individuals was quite even. The dominance and evenness indices indicated that there were no species that significantly dominated the Gastropod community in the area. This study provides basic data on the diversity of Gastropods in Lamongan Regency and can be used as a reference for further environmental research. In addition, the results of this study can also provide information for the community and stakeholders related to the preservation of rice field ecosystems and conservation of Gastropods.
